winegrowers since the early 1900s
The Pietro Zardini winery is the final result of a continuous evolution with very deep roots in the Valpolicella territory.
I have only one life and only one chance. My faith requires me to do everything I can, every time I can, with everything I have, to try to make a difference.
the origins
Its origins date back to the early decades of the 1800s with Leonardo Zardini, the family patriarch, who was already a grape grower and wine producer in those years in the heart of Classic Valpolicella.
After a succession of lives, events, generations and hard work in the fields, the small family-run farm has reached the present day.
pietro zardini
I was found on 28 November 1971 by my grandfather Pietro in his old cellar in Corte Zardini in San Floriano, and he took me home... my mother had been waiting for me for several months. My youth, full of memories and scents from the past, the Landini tractors, my father's hot-head engines, the fields to work, the vines, the cherry trees, the farmyard animals, the cellar carved into tufa, the colourful stories told by my uncles. I graduated in agriculture with a specialisation in viticulture, and in 1990, at 19 years old, I began working with some of the finest wineries in Verona.
During those years I was able to refine the knowledge I had gained at school, but above all I had the good fortune to compare myself with great wine makers, both Italian and French. Certified ONAV taster and sommelier.
#guaranteedbypietrozardini
Since 2000, the call of the origins, the desire to produce directly in a traditional way, the simplicity of nature and wine, making wine with my own hands, personally following every step: this is how the Pietro Zardini winery was born, dedicated to my grandfather Pietro; this is how #guaranteedbypietrozardini was born.
the generations
After Leonardo came Giacinto, the great-grandfather with the family patriarch's earring, who took care of the cellar. Giacinto died of pneumonia when he was old because he insisted on going to prune the vines in the snow. Then came Pietro, to whom I dedicated the winery, my father's father, a strong and humble man: his draught oxen were famous throughout Valpolicella for their strength and beauty. Then Leone, my father, to whom I dedicated the Amarone Riserva, and finally me, Pietro Zardini. These are the men of my family, the men who carried forward the same mission, the same passion rooted in the same land.
A journey that over time has given me a wealth of wine culture and tradition, to which I am deeply attached, and, in my opinion, that extra nuance that creates uniqueness. This is the foundation from which my knowledge was born, but above all from which my Wine was born: an exaltation of new and ancient aromas and flavours, taking us back in time and forward into the future... it is history you can taste today, it is wine made with love and passion.
